About us

King’s College Basketball  is one of the fastest growing and most diverse sports societies on campus.

Having recently expanded to three competitive teams and one recreational team, KCLBC caters to all levels of play, and currently counts over 70 full-time members, as well as over a hundred alumni across the world.

All home games and weekly training sessions (Wednesday & Sunday) are held at the newly-built Lewisham Thunder practice facility on Stockholm road in South Bermondsey (SE16 3LP). Weekend scrimmage sessions are held at the SPACe in Hackney and are run by BeActive.

Due to its relationship with the Thunder, KCLBC regularly scrimmages with the Thunder Academy, coached by former L.A. Laker Steve Bucknall and former Yale Bulldog Josh Davis.

The KCLBC Men's 1st Team competes in five tournaments:

  • The BUCS South Eastern Conference Cup

  • BUCS Championship – South Eastern Conference - Division 3A

  • LUSL (London Universities Sport Leagues) - Premier Division

  • LUSL Cup

  • London Varsity Series

The KCLBC Men's 2nd Team also competes in four tournaments:

  • The BUCS South Eastern Conference Cup

  • BUCS Championship – South Eastern Conference - Division 4B

  • LUSL (London Universities Sport Leagues) - Premier Division

  • LUSL Cup

Recreational sessions are hosted every Saturday by the KCLSU BeActive scheme from  1 to 4pm at Hackney SPACe - this is a session for those who just want to play some shootaround basketball or improve fundamental skills.
